Biography

Dante Alighieri was born in Florence in 1265. His life spanned the turbulent politics of the late Middle Ages, during which he was active as a poet, philosopher, and political thinker. Dante was deeply involved in the political life of Florence, which led to his exile from the city in 1302.

During his exile, Dante traveled through various Italian cities and ultimately settled in Ravenna, where he spent the remaining years of his life. He died on September 14, 1321.
